A SWIFT MASTER-PEACE

Yes indeed... a master-PEACE.

That is exactly the word I was looking for to describe "The Long Pond Studio Sessions" that brought Taylors' "Folklore" to life through the silver screens.

If you ask me what Taylor Swift album is the best she's ever made, I think you can guess what my answer will be.

Folklore is the album that really just hit home for me.

While carefully listening to it for the 1st time back in July, each song made me go over so many mental pictures that were stored in my mind of various moments that happened throughout my life and brought out so many feelings in me which I thought I had completely buried long time ago, and yet now are suddenly resurfacing.

When Taylor released this 8th studio album, it was not only a surprise to me as her long-time fan, but to her record label as well, who she informed shortly before it's release.

This album was recorded during her time in lockdown with the help of different supporting musicians scattered in various locations, and I just love that it possesses that stripped-down, lovely acoustic sound. Perhaps that’s why Folklore felt like such a breath of fresh air to me.

Folklore was released in July, and the documentary "The Long Pond Studio Sessions", that is out now on the Disney+ streaming service, was shot in September.

The biggest twist is that the September sessions were the first time that Taylor, Antonoff and Dessner were together in the same place for the 1st time since lockdown happened. During the pandemic, they had each recorded in their own studios, collaborating on long-distance.

In one nighttime conversation on a deck at the studio, Taylor says that playing the songs in real time will “make me realize it’s a real album. Seems like a big mirage.”

To me this new documentary focuses on gifting fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes, and Folklore will be remembered as the perfect embodiment of what the lockdown really meant for many of us.

Self-isolating with Swift is the perfect early Christmas present that we all really needed so as to look back on this, now almost past year and look forward to hopefully a brighter future to come in the next one.

If by now you are still not convinced to go and watch this documentary, then maybe perhaps this little sneak peak will convince you otherwise:
